Day 42

We spent the day in Maratea and we are just loving southern Italy. Hardly any tourists and just as beautiful and charming as our other favorite spots.

Bec and Juls mailed some postcards. The Italian post office isn't very efficient, much like the US post office I guess, it took forever. (public, this should be our next font!)

Then we headed to town in search of the beach. Maratea is a little similar to the Cinque Terre with several villages on the coast in little groupings.

We headed to Fuimicello (one of the towns) and with the help of the locals found a great beach off a little narrow road and down tons of stairs.

We felt a little out of place when we got there with all the locals looking at us like it was their spot and not for tourists. We stayed for a quick swim to cool off and then walked over to the bigger beach. We pretty much hung out there all day swimming and relaxing in the sun.

Dad went for a bike ride and rode all through the towns. On our way back to the boat we found one more local beach down another narrow road and tons of stairs. We LOVED it!!

It even had this little protected pool area.

A little piece of paradise.
