Day 40

After the big scare we decided we should spend some time doing some damage control and prevention. Linds and I went to the Capitanarie's office to get as many phone numbers as possible of future ports that we might stay at. We found out there is something called the "Blue Pages" which is the "Yellow Pages" of the Italian sailing world. Something that would have come in handy about a month ago.

Meanwhile Dad and Juls delivered the gift baskets to the Coast Guard and Geppie and friends (the guy who saved our boat).

Linds and I spent the next few hours getting reservations at all the future ports we'd be at in Italy. We also made an appointment with the RayMarine office to get our auto pilot fixed and Dad resurrected his captain's log.

When we finally finished our jobs (which took a lot longer than you might think, especially when you don't speak the language) Linds, Juls and I went into Capri, and caught the bus (3 buses total actually) to the Blue Grotto.

It was awesome!! It's a little cave in the water that you swim into. There is a chain to grab to help guide you through the small opening which can be a little scary with the waves crashing.

At first is just looks like a dark cave but when you turn around and look back at the entrance... AWWWWWW!!!! it is bright blue lighting up the water. Linds and I swam to the very back were we met some people from Livermore who helped us up onto the rock.

We took the bus back up to Anacapri and took a little walk through the town.

Then we waited for the bus to take us to one of the beaches on the other side of the island. It was our lucky day and a taxi stopped and offered us a free ride all the way to the beach.

We walked around a little and Juls went for a quick swim.

Then we took the bus/cable car back home

and at midnight woke up to fireworks. (we think it was for one of the yachts private parties)
