Genoa is known as the birthplace of Christopher Columbus.

(This is the house he was born in)
The harbor was renovated in 1992 in preparation for the 500th anniversary of his discovery of America. In the harbor we noticed an unusual water-craft. Juliann and Lindsay saw this very boat several months ago in the Oakland Marina!

After a brief down pour of rain and lunch we headed out to explore Genoa. We had a great time walking up and down the labyrinth of caruggi (dark narrow alleys.)

We ran into the Elders and had a great time chatting with them. The Gothic black and white striped marble San Lorenzo cathedral is stunning.

We made sure to sample some of the Genoese foccia bread as Ariel and Brad recommended. Delicious! At about 9:30 p.m. we walked Malorie up to the bus station and said our good-byes.

Malorie is going home. I was sad that I only got to spend one day with her! We will miss you Mal!!! ARRIVEDERCI!
