Day 4

We are alive and in Paris. We accidently slept in a little today, but once we got going we had a full day. We went to the grocery store in the morning to get lunch so we could save a little $$. Then we took the metro to Montmartre (were all the artists live) sand the Sacré-Coeur. We found our way through the streets to a hill of stairs—we climbed them all and when we got to the top this is what we saw!!

We had some lunch on the grass and enjoyed the view and the sun, as well as this group of American boys putting on a juggling/singing act for all the tourists.

After lunch, we walked through the Sacré-Coeur, it was beautiful and nice and cool inside. Then we made our way down the hill through the cutest little village (where they filmed Amelie).

At the top you can buy paintings and drawings by local artists as well as be entertained by this woman who can whistle like no one I have ever seen.

While we were taking some pix I noticed there were some people in the dome at the top of the Sacré-Coeur so we walked back up the hill and climbed a tiny spiral staircase about 200 stairs to the top

and the view was incredible!!

Then we made our way back down to the village of Montmartre

stopped by to see the Moulin Rouge

and headed over to the Arc de Triomphe.

While we were sitting on the bench watching all the cars in the gigantic round about this bus pulled up and all these soldiers got out. They started putting on some special clothes for a ceremony that was going to take place.

However, in the next 20 minutes a HUGE rain/thunder/lightning/wind storm blew in. People were running for cover, the people in the ceremony got soaked, and Juliann slipped and hit her head on the Arc de Triomphe. It was a little chaotic.

PS. we saw a soldier with a peg leg.
The rain was so beautiful though and it was still pretty warm outside. We waited at the Arc de Triomphe for a while hoping it would pass but it didn't so we decided to jump on the bus and see where it would take us. I think we took it the wrong direction though because we later found out that all the good sites were the other way. I loved every minute of this day. Lindsay
