Day 17
Today was a big day. We left port Porquerolles and headed into new terratory. We wanted to get an early start but after laundry, a bike tune up, and checking out at the Captionairre's office, we actually didn't make it out of there until the afternoon. (This is partly because every place in France takes a long lunch break from 12:00-2:00.) Finally at 4:00 we were on our way to St. Tropez! The wind seemed a little stronger today so we decided to get the sails up for the first time.
But they didn't stay up long because the wind decided to mellow out again shortly after we got our sails up. We saw some dolphins swimming in the distance. Pretty exciting. AND THEN......a miracle happened. As we approached the dolphins, four of them came up to our boat and swam right under our bow! (The bow is the hammock looking thing in the front of the boat.) Two of them stayed for a while swimming back and forth right along with us and jumping in the water. Here's the exciting video footage (I only got the end on video):

By the time we arrived in St. Tropez it was already dark. We were hoping to pull into a guest dock spot....but there were a LOT of yachts taking up all of the spaces. We pulled up and a guy told us that there was a yacht cup race the next day, and they were full. So we just went about 10 minutes to a different port (Port Grimaud). We found a nice spot. Unfortunatly as we were tying up the boat, dad's cell phone dropped out of his shirt pocket into the water.
